8TH COMPETITIVE INVESTMENT MECHANISM PANEL (CIMP) MEETINGgiant
On 4 May 2022, the Australian Embassy in Cambodia hosted the Competitive Investment Mechanism Panel (CIMP) meeting, chaired by Mr Connor Floyd, Second Secretary at the Australian Embassy to Cambodia.
Representatives from the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation (MoSVY), the Disability Action Council, the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Interior and the Australia – Cambodia Cooperation for Equitable Sustainable Services (ACCESS) attended the meeting. It aimed to review the implementation of the tailored loan product piloted by Chamroeun Microfinance Plc (CMP)) and obtain recommendations for the second stage of implementation of the product.
Mr Connor Floyd, in his address, highlighted that ACCESS, in the context of its Disability Workstream, had contributed to the implementation of the National Disability Strategic Plan 2019-2023 (NDSP 2019-2023) through supporting access to economic opportunities for persons with disabilities. ACCESS is working in partnership with CMP and Good Return to improve financial literacy and awareness of potential microfinance risks for persons with disabilities and pilot tailored financial product for persons with disabilities.
In addition, ACCESS Leads from the GBV and Disability workstreams presented an update on each implementing partner’s grants allocation for ACCESS Stage II. To conclude the meeting, the chair of the meeting identified key activities and next steps for the subsequent stage of implementation and proposed the next ACCESS Steering Committee Meeting be held in July 2022.
