Celebrating the 112th International Women’s Day 2023 with the ACCESS Team

This year marks the 112th anniversary of International Women’s Day, with the theme, “Women Together for Peace and Development in the Digital Age.”

The Australia-Cambodia Cooperation for Equitable Sustainable Services (ACCESS) Program staff came together to celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD) on 8 March 2023. The global theme this year is aligned with the priority theme for the upcoming 67th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW-67).

The Cambodian local theme, “Women Together for Peace and Development in the Digital Age,” aims to continue to highlight the invaluable role of women’s participation in maintaining peace as well as actively participating in development in all sectors. Cambodian women and men will work together to participate equally and equitably, regionally and globally, particularly in the context of the digital age and post-COVID-19 economic recovery, to build resilience and sustainable development.

Every year, the ACCESS program provides support to its Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) counterparts and Implementing Partners at both the national and sub-national levels to celebrate the IWD event. This year was no exception! ACCESS commissioned the printing of purple t-shirts with messages celebrating the 112th IWD 2023 and these t-shirts were delivered to the Ministry of Women’s Affairs (MoWA), Provincial Department of Women’s Affairs across six targeted provinces, gender-based violence’s Implementing Partners, with members of the ACCESS/DFAT teams also receiving some.

To celebrate IWD, the ACCESS Program staff came together for a group photo at our staff retreat, and also took photos displaying key messages aligned with the local theme to promote women in the digital age.

The ACCESS team also joined some in-person events in collaboration with MoWA.

Please join us in celebrating IWD to advance the rights of women and girls, promote gender equality and enhance women and girls’ active participation in the digital age.
