Helping Women Stay Safe during the COVID-19 PandemicSovithiea
It is vital that woman and girls who experience violence are able to get the help they need, including during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Australia is working with the Cambodian Women’s Crisis Center (CWCC) to provide high-quality legal advice, basic counselling and social support services to survivors of gender-based violence.
Ambassador Kang visited CWCC in Siem Reap in January and was delighted to see Australia’s support making an impact first-hand.
In response to the pandemic, CWCC has successfully modified its safe-shelters in Phnom Penh and nine provinces across Cambodia in line with the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 protection standards so that women affected by violence are not at increased risk of being exposed to COVID-19.
