Meeting of Ministry of Women’s Affairs (MoWA), Ministry of Interior (MoI), and National Committee for Sub-National Democratic Development (NCDD)access
With the support of the Australian Government through the Australia-Cambodia Cooperation for Equitable Sustainable Services (ACCESS) Program, on February 3rd , 2021, at Dara Airport Hotel, the Ministry of Women’s Affairs (MoWA) chaired the technical-level meeting between MoWA, the Ministry of Interior (MoI), and the National Committee for Sub-National Democratic Development (NCDD). The meeting’s participants included MOI’s Administrative Department Director, representatives from Department of Administration Department of Capital, Khan and Provincial Administrative Affairs and ACCESS Implementing Partners (IPs) including CARE, Humanity & Inclusion and the Cambodian Disabled Peoples Organization. Representatives from the Australian Embassy to Cambodia were also in attendance.
Participants discussed the achievements, lessons learnt and experiences of different stakeholders on Gender-Responsive Budgeting and inclusion in the Commune Investment Program (CIP). They also identified best practices of state and non-state stakeholders, on gender responsiveness and inclusion in the CIP; and identified areas of collaboration and the way forward.
Her Excellency Nhean Sochetra, Director of Gender Equality in the Social Development Department at MoWA, chaired and facilitated the meeting. In her closing remarks, she highlighted the fruitful outcomes of the meeting. She stated that the Ministry has learned a lot from civil society organizations that works closely at the commune level under the ACCESS Program. Other government representatives who were in attendance also shared their experiences and progress on working with the sub-national level departments related to gender mainstreaming, the CIP, and commune investment program.
ACCESS is an initiative of the Australian Government that works in partnership with the Royal Government of Cambodia and implementing partners to support the operationalization of the National Action Plan to Prevent Violence Against Women and the National Disability Strategic Plan.
