Mr Soy Sokhorn : An Advocate for Equality and the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
Mr Soy Sokhorn is an Executive Director of the Representative Self-Help Disabilities Organisation Batheay District (RSDOB), a member of the board of directors of the Cambodian Disabled People’s Organisation (CDPO) and deputy chair of the Provincial Disability Action Council of Kampong Cham. He lives in the Batheay district of the Kampong Cham province. He has a physical disability resulting from a traffic injury. Sokhorn is devoted to and has years of experience advocating for disability rights and social inclusion since 2001 when he formed the RSDOB.
Sokhorn’s efforts have made significant impacts at the subnational and national levels for greater inclusion of persons with disabilities leading to their representation in the governance structure of the Commune Committee for Women and Children (CCWC). His message to everyone, including persons with disabilities, is:
“Advocate for what is right and if you wish for something, take action toward achieving it.”
