Ms Sieng Sokchan : A Dynamic Leader and National Athlete
Ms Sieng Sokchan is an optimistic and empowered woman and is the leader of the Women with Disabilities Forum (WWDF) in Battambang province. When she was a teenager, an accident resulted in injuries that left her physically impaired. Sokchan dedicates her time and profession to promoting the rights of women and men with disabilities and advocating for their benefit in her community and nationwide. Sokchan is also a member of the women’s wheelchair basketball team and a national athlete. Recently, she participated in 2022 ASEAN Para Games in Indonesia, and her team won the silver medal. She is now practicing for the upcoming 12th ASEAN Para Games 2023, which Cambodia will host.
Overcoming negative experiences of discrimination, Sokchan is an active member of the community. She can empower many women in their professional journey through knowledge sharing, skill strengthening and motivational activities to empower them to strive for a better quality of life and advocate for greater inclusion. She is grateful to all who supported her and gave her opportunities to continue to grow and contribute to society.

“Be stronger, learn a unique skill and participate in activities to raise your voice and show your ability. When this happens, others will be discouraged to discriminate against you.”
