Promoting gender equality and addressing violence against women is a priority for both Australia and Cambodia.

With my counterpart, Her Excellency Dr Ing Kantha Phavi, Cambodian Minister of Women’s Affairs, we visited a crisis shelter for women survivors of gender-based violence, managed by the Cambodian Women’s Crisis Center (CWCC) in Phnom Penh.

Frontline service providers such as CWCC, play an important role in ensuring quality and timely services remain accessible and available for women survivors of violence.

To take forward this work, Australia’s flagship Australia-Cambodia Cooperation for Equitable Sustainable Services program (ACCESS), will be extended until 2023.
Together, as one region, we can work towards a safer and more equitable world for women and girls.
