During COVID-19, it is crucial that women survivors of gender-based violence have fast access to psychological support services.
The Australian Government supported a two-day Psychological First Aid training for Ministry of Women’s Affairs (MoWA) officials from eight provinces. These are often the first responders to instances of gender-based violence through operation of telephone hotlines.
Funded through the Australian-Cambodia Cooperation for Equitable Sustainable Services (ACCESS) program, participants received training on how to apply counselling techniques and listening skills to ensure that gender-based violence survivors receive good quality advice over the phone.
To close the workshop Elizabeth Adler, Second Secretary, from the Australian Embassy and H.E Socheatra Nhean, Director General, MoWA congratulated all participants for completing the training and awarded them with certificates.
Under Australia’s ACCESS program, MoWA and other partners are working together to ensure women and girls at risk of violence have access to critical services.
