Roundtable discussion on legal and psychological support for survivors of gender-based violence in Siem Reap Province

Through our Australia-Cambodia Cooperation for Equitable Sustainable Services (ACCESS) program the Australian Government is supporting a range of government and non-government organisations that are seeking to ensure Cambodian survivors of gender-based violence can access relevant legal and support services. A key focus of this program is ensuring that these services are properly funded and can be delivered sustainably.

On a recent visit to Siem Reap, Deputy Ambassador Luke Arnold convened a roundtable discussion with three Australian-funded organisations working hard to achieve these objectives – Legal Aid Cambodia (which hosted the roundtable), Cambodia Women’s Crisis Center and the Transcultural Psychosocial Organization. The roundtable proved to be a useful opportunity to discuss how these organisations, the ACCESS Program and the Australian Embassy can continue to work together to ensure that all Cambodian women understand their rights and can access relevant legal representatives and counsellors – now and into the future.
