Using Sign Language to Stay InformedSovithiea
Cambodian Sign Language (CSL) was integrated into Government broadcasts that have kept Cambodians informed during the COVID-19 outbreak, so that people with hearing impairments could also stay up-to-date on important health and safety news.
Australia’s ACCESS Program helped bring government, civil society and TV broadcasters together to make this happen. Congratulations to everyone involved, including disability and health officials for taking the initiative, the Cambodian Disabled People’s Organisation and the Deaf Development Programme for delivering the interpretation, and Fresh News and BTV for broadcasting them.
We hope to see more CSL on screen in future!
